Hey loafy. Great to see you here again, with another amazing picture, as usual.

Where is this? I, too, once slept in a naturally created snow melt lake between mountain peaks. Where I was is called Mt. Baxter and it is the second highest peak in California, but almost completely off the radar. Any chance that's where you were this time?

This is at Upper Crabtree Lake, just south of Mount Whitney.

So good to see you...

Good to see you as well. Don't be a stranger!

My cousin (who led the expedition) described where we were in reference to Mt. Baxter because he is like Paul Giamatti from the wine movie about geology and felt as though Baxter should get Whitney's attention or something. Otherwise, what you are describing could be the same place - just south of Whitney off the Old 395.

I was there when I was 19 - a crazy long time ago. It looks nearly exact, as do Google images of the name. About 7 miles of (basically) unmarked trails to get there?

Hope all is well, man. Good to see that your book seems to be progressing.

We were much farther south than you. Mt Baxter is north of Whitney. I was 12 the last time I summitted Whitney. It was crazy nostalgic. Working on my trip report. Editing my pics and video after work tonight.

We were here at the oblong lake at the center of the map.
