Thomas Pridgen.. or Jon Theodore?

COME ON PPL.. SHOW SOME LOVE FOR PRIDGEN!

I’m not pointing the finger at anyone here (mostly just some ppl at the concert) but it pisses me off now, when I hear people say something like, "TMV suck now without Jon" or "I won't see them now because Jon isn’t in the band and he was the best part about TMV". Maybe if Cedric and Omar weren't dicks, then all of the members would get along and not have to leave the band every now and then.

TMV is just as good as they’ve ever been. I’ve seen them four times so far, and after last night’s performance. Damnit, I can say they’re only going to get better. And by the way, Pridgen stole the show; that man is just disgustingly good.

I’ll admit that when I first found out about Jon’s departure from TMV.. I was pretty upset and talked shit about how those bastards had to beg Jon to come back. His “bombastic” style was one of the reasons why I love TMV. His playing was unpredictable and just what TMV needed on their albums. The guy fit right in and knew where Cedric and Omar wanted to go experimentally. I doubted they’d find a new drummer who’d be able to re-create the chemistry within that band.

I'll agree with Rumple and Kevin, in that Pridgen overplays it. I'm not a drummer, so I'm just stating an opinion which could be wrong.. but I do think that Jon was the more talented and mature drummer. Whereas Jon is more about power and refinement. I think Pridgen’s style is speed; he’s very spastic and sporadic when he’s playing but also somewhat light. I honestly like this change; it's refreshing.

Anyways, now that I’ve heard Pridgen play with TMV, I don't miss Jon anymore. Jon was god but Pridgen fills his shoes pretty damn well.

Being the beast that he is, he scored every song (they played about 15) last night. From Roulette Dares to Day of the Baphomets. And now I have a deep liking towards Conjugal Burns

If you guys get a chance.. and even if you’ve seen them before. GO SEE THEM WITH PRIDGEN =O They’ve gotten crazier and I’m starting to think this curse isn’t a joke. Well, either it’s a curse or they have something in their pants. I’ve never been so physically tired from a concert and I’d like to go see them again tonight at MTV Canada.

OK, rant over.

P.S. I don't blame Katrina for being such a TMV fangirl.

After seeing Pridgen KILL that fucking drumset live last night....gotta go with da Tom Pridg. I saw them when they opened for SOAD, too, when they had Jon, and he was damn impressive....but.....THOMAS PRIDGEN.

Wow, Omar must control literally everything about that band. Seriously, it looks like he's making Thomas use the same set Jon used.

Wow.

A. It's well known that Omar controls EVERYTHING that is labeled TMV.
B. What you guys haven't brought up is the fact that Pridgen is 22 fucking years old for christs sake.
C. He more than fills both Jon's shoes with his right foot alone.

Pridgen is more skilled than Jon Theodore, and I guess you could "better" technically.

I liked TMV's music more with Jon as the drummer.

Pridgen just does too much.

The beginning of Wax Simulacra is utterly ridiculous, but uneccessary.

im gonna have to agree with all the "overplay" comments...i think Tom is obviously an insanely talented drummer.

that being said, i think Jon had much more style and showed good restraint and dynamic control. He also seemed to have a little more of his own flavor in my opinion

this is a good example of Thomas over playing and ruining the soft touches Jon had on the album. The guy has no sense of dynamics sometimes and needs to settle down

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U7mGBfJL ... re=related

this was one of my favorite songs from Amputechture, and honestly i think Tom ruins it.

Anyone heard of The Memorials - Thomas Pridgen's new band. It kicks some serious ass.

They are playing live and doing an intimate meet n greet at Sam Ash Torrance, CA on Jun 11, 2010.

Check this link out - http://www.samashmusic.com/events/view. ... StoreID=68

I can't freaking wait for this shit.

Jon by far was more fit for TMV's style when he was in the band, on Bedlam it really seemed like it was made to showcase T-Pidgeon rather than be an actual effort from every member.

Jon wins.

Man, please stop spamming here. I was giving you the benefit of the doubt because of your name and the TMV threads here, but this is three separate posts all about the goddamn Memorials, all written without reference to the others.

We have seen the links and the existence of the band, and your job is done here. Someone will torrent the album and share it with all of us soon enough, I'm sure (lol).

Don't mess up these boards any more now with those posts. If your next post is normal, then cool. If not, poof.
